So how does one start off the new year utilizing Feng Shui principles? First and foremost, take your house cleaning to a level that you may not typically perform. By doing so you are giving new life to your home and possessions. You are giving attention to things that may have been ignored. Really LOOK at what you own. Open up a cabinet, closet etc. and look around. What’s in there? Do you use all those items? Do you LOVE all those items? What are they for? Who brought them in? Personally, I attacked a cabinet last week that I always hated opening. It was full of stuff and I have literally said to my husband “Ugh, this cabinet makes me angry, it’s so gross”. What?!? I wasn’t listening to myself. That cabinet made me angry and was affecting the energy in my home. I went through everything and couldn’t believe the stuff I had hung on to as it was full of all kinds of things I didn’t use or need. Now I can open the cabinet and comment on how nice everything looks. No more anger here!
Feng Shui can be used to clear space in your life. When you physically clear your space you are clearing your energy for new and wonderful things to appear. Are you looking for a romantic relationship? What shape is your closet in? I would recommend making space in your closet for your new partner. Energetically you are saying “Yep, I’m all ready for you to come into my life, I’ve made space for you”.
Feng Shui is also all about intention. Get clear on your intentions for the year. What do you want to see come to fruition in your life? I would recommend writing 3 intentions down on a small piece of paper and placing them in a red envelope either above your door or somewhere close to the front door. You are directing energy exactly where you want it to go.
I’d also recommend taking some time to spruce up your front entrance. Perhaps buy a new welcome mat or door wreath. Or replace a light fixture or add a potted plant. Hang a crystal in your front window. Paint your front door a new color if you’re so inclined. It’s really not that important what you do, but what IS important is that it feels fresh, new and welcoming. Drawing the Chi into the house is the goal. How you prefer to do that is up to you.
In short, look at where you are now and where you’d like to be and align your living space with those goals. Pay attention to your surroundings, toss or donate anything that doesn’t serve you anymore to make space for wonderful new energy to come into your home.
Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous 2017!
Beauty. Balance. Blessings.
